Learning New Things

I tried my hands at Lentils for the first time tonight and I can say that it was absolutely worth it. Let me start out by saying that on Thursday morning I had a meeting at Creations Gardens here in Louisville and low and behold the place was amazing! Did you all know that this place existed? It is a wholesaler of produce, cheeses, herbs & spices and many other gourmet items to local Louisville restaurants but the secret is that it is open to the public. I am not sure if all of the items are organic but the produce looked like it was picked right from the farm and it was cheap! I bought the lentils there for one dollar and they had a huge selection to choose from. I also bought wasabi peas by the pound and the biggest container of Nutella I’ve ever seen. Here’s how I prepped them:
I soaked the lentils for two days in tap water in a bowl on the counter. Today I sauteed three cloves of garlic and a small onion in some extra virgin olive oil in a pan. I set my tea kettle to boil and got out my baby crock pot. Placed the lentils in and gave the salt grinder a few turns over. Poured the garlic onion mix in and poured boiling water over it. (I always put more water in because you can always drain off the excess) Plugged in the pot and left it for two hours. I mixed the lentils in some already made brown rice (compliments to Mm) and voila’. Yum!
